Orwak solves the problem of plastic bottles
Orwak, the UK’s leading provider of waste processing equipment, is proud to announce the launch of an innovative new baler specifically designed to help improve the recycling of drinks cans and plastic bottles.
This unique waste baler has been designed by Orwak to offer a practical and highly effective way to compact and bale smaller volumes of metal cans and PET bottles.
In the past, it has proven difficult, if not impossible, to recycle plastic bottles as a result of the amount of storage space they take up. The strong construction and tendency of plastic bottles to “bounce back” has made them tricky to compact, meaning that even relatively small volumes would occupy a large amount of space.
The Orwak 5040 solves the problem of “bounce back” by using a 2 stage compaction process which pierces the plastic bottles prior to baling. This means that PET bottles can simply and easily be baled, even with the tops still on. As Martin Hewitt, Orwak’s Commercial Director states “Whilst it may sound an obvious solution, the ability to offer a machine that can effectively compact smaller volumes of plastic bottles has eluded the waste industry for many years. Our new 5040 offers a real step forward in recycling for many organisations who have previously struggled to deal with cans and plastic bottles.”
Whilst the technology in use may be advanced, the Orwak 5040 has been specifically designed to offer a practical and cost-effective solution for sites of all sizes. Recognising that space in often at a premium, the 5040 is a small machine which takes up the minimum amount of floor space. Yet the results speak for themselves: This small but highly effective unit produces stackable bales containing up to500 plastic bottles or 650 metal cans, a staggering compacting ratio of 10.1.
